What the extension handles, and where it stays

Data Why Where it is kept
Your Google account email addresses To show each account and its unread mail On your computer (chrome.storage.local). Addresses you configure in Options (labels to watch, accounts turned off) are part of your settings, see below.
Unread email details: sender, subject, a short snippet, date and message ID To show the list, the unread count and notifications On your computer (chrome.storage.local), replaced on every check.
The content of an email you open in the reading view To display it In memory only, while it is shown. Never saved.
Gmail's session token (the GMAIL_AT cookie) and the account ID key from Gmail's page To send the quick actions you click (mark as read, archive, delete, spam, star) to Gmail In memory only. Sent only back to mail.google.com.
Your settings To remember your choices chrome.storage.sync. If you use Chrome Sync, Chrome syncs them to your other computers through your Google account.
